Hot tub instructions for guests (template)
A hot tub is often the reason guests book, and also the amenity hosts worry about most. Guests need to know how to lift the cover, work the jets and lock it up again, and they need the safety limits written down where they'll see them.
This template covers the controls, a clear temperature limit, who should check with a doctor first, and what to do if the water looks cloudy or the tub stops heating. Add a photo of your control panel with the buttons labelled.

Before you get in
- Please shower first, without lotion or oils, so the water stays clean.
- Check the temperature on the panel. It's set to [Set temperature] and should never go above 40°C (104°F).
- Keep soaks to about [15] minutes at a time, then cool off and drink some water.
Opening the tub
- Unclip the cover locks: [Where the clips are and how they open].
- Lift the cover with the lifter: [How the cover lifter works]. Please don't stand or sit on the cover.
Using the controls
- Jets: press [Jets button]. They switch off on their own after [Number] minutes.
- Lights: press [Light button].
- Please leave the temperature as it is. If it feels too hot or cold, text us.
Safety
- Children must be watched by an adult every minute, even near the tub with the cover off. We suggest children under [Minimum age] stay out.
- If you're pregnant, or have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or take medicine that makes you drowsy, please check with your doctor before using the tub.
- Please don't use the tub after drinking alcohol or using anything that makes you sleepy, and never use it alone.
- Keep long hair tied up and away from the drains, and keep heads above water.
- No glass in or around the tub. Plastic cups are in [Location].
- Get out if you feel dizzy, sleepy or sick, and during thunder or lightning.
Closing the tub
- Turn off the jets, lower the cover and clip all the locks closed every time you get out.
If something goes wrong
- Water looks cloudy, smells strong or the panel shows a code: please stay out and text [Host name] at [Host phone].
- Emergency: call [Local emergency number]. The tub's power shut-off is [Shut-off location].
Copied. Paste it into your welcome book or message.
Tips
- Lock the cover with clips that adults can open easily but small children can't.
- Write the real set temperature in the template so guests can spot if it's been changed.
- Put a laminated copy of the safety lines next to the tub, not only in the welcome book.
- Test and balance the water between every stay, and keep a log in case a guest asks.
- Say where the power shut-off is; in an emergency nobody wants to hunt for it.

Questions
What temperature should an Airbnb hot tub be?
Never above 40°C (104°F). Many hosts set it a little lower, around 37–38°C (99–101°F), which is comfortable for longer and safer for more guests.
Can children use a hot tub?
Only with an adult watching closely, for shorter soaks and with heads above water. Many hosts set a minimum age, and very young children are generally advised to stay out.
Should I ask guests to sign a hot tub waiver?
That's a question for your insurer or a local lawyer, and platform rules vary. Clear written instructions, a locked cover and good maintenance matter whatever you decide.
