Vacation rental welcome book template

If your place doesn't fit a neat category, or you manage several kinds of homes, start with a general vacation rental guide. It covers everything guests ask about a typical house: getting in, the wifi, the appliances, trash day and where to eat.

This template gives you the full section outline with sample text you can adapt, including a how-things-work section for the thermostat, TV, washer and dishwasher in a standard home.

Replace anything in [brackets] with your own details.

Questions

What should a vacation rental welcome book include?

Welcome, check-in, wifi, parking, how the appliances work, a few house rules, trash and recycling, local picks, emergency info and checkout.

How long should a welcome book be?

Short enough to scan on a phone: a line or two per section, with more detail only for things guests actually ask about. Put appliance manuals in a drawer, not the guide.

What checkout steps can I ask vacation rental guests to do?

Light tasks such as putting used dishes in the sink, gathering towels, sorting trash into indoor bins, turning things off, closing windows and locking up. Cleaning tasks belong to your cleaner.
