House rules in French: free translated template

Whether your guests are from France, Quebec, Belgium or Switzerland, a welcome note in French feels thoughtful, and it cuts down on questions about what the rules actually mean. This version is written the way a French-speaking host would write it, not word for word from English.

It includes the welcome line, arrival and departure times, wifi, the usual house rules and the checkout steps guests can fairly be asked to do. Replace the bracketed parts with your own details.

Questions

Should a French welcome note use vous or tu?

Use vous. It's the normal, polite way for a host to address guests, whether there's one guest or a family.

Will guests from Quebec understand a template written for France?

Yes, the wording here is standard French that reads naturally on both sides of the Atlantic. A few words, like the one for the internet box, can be swapped to sound more local.

What is 'règlement intérieur' in a rental?

It's the usual French name for house rules in a rental or shared building. Guests will recognize it straight away as the list of rules for their stay.
