House rules in Dutch: free translated template
Many Dutch and Flemish guests speak good English, but a welcome note in Dutch still makes the rules feel personal and leaves less room for misreading. This template is written in polite, natural Dutch that works for guests from the Netherlands and from Flanders in Belgium.
It covers the welcome, check-in and checkout times, wifi, the standard huisregels and a short, fair list of checkout steps. Fill in the bracketed parts with your own details.

Tips
- The template uses u, the polite form; many Dutch hosts use the friendlier je, so switch if that suits your style, but don't mix the two.
- Have a native speaker check anything legal, such as deposits, damage or cancellation wording, before you add it to this template.
- Write times as 15.00 uur or 15:00; Dutch speakers use the 24-hour clock.
- Phrasing a rule as a question (Wilt u de deur op slot doen?) is a normal, polite way to ask in Dutch.
- Don't send Afrikaans to Dutch guests or the other way round; they're related but separate languages.

Questions
Should I use u or je with Dutch guests?
U is the safe, polite form with guests you don't know. Je is common in casual hospitality in the Netherlands, so either is fine if you use it consistently.
Will Belgian (Flemish) guests understand this Dutch template?
Yes. Flemish is a variety of Dutch, and this standard wording reads naturally to guests from Belgium too.
Do I need Dutch house rules if my guests speak English?
It isn't required, but rules in a guest's own language are easier to take in after a long trip. It's a small touch that shows you thought about them.
