RV and camper welcome book template
A parked RV or camper rental is cozy, but guests often haven't used one before. They need to know how the water pump and hot water work, what runs on propane, how the tanks work and when to roll in the awning.
This template covers each section with sample text for an RV set up on a site, with clear safety notes for propane and CO and local picks around the campground.

How things work
- Hookups: the RV is connected to power, water and sewer. Please leave all hoses and cables as they are.
- Water pump and hot water: [Pump note, e.g. city water is connected, so no pump needed]. The water heater switch is [Switch location]; give it [Heat-up time] to warm up.
- Propane: the stove, fridge and furnace use propane. Light the stove by [Stove instructions] and turn it off after cooking. If you smell gas, turn off the stove, get everyone out, and call us.
- Tanks: please keep showers short so the grey tank doesn't fill. Only RV toilet paper goes in the toilet. We empty the tanks.
- Awning: please roll it in when it's windy or when you leave.
- Slide-outs: they're already out; please don't operate them.

Tips
- Say clearly that you handle tank dumping and hookups, so guests don't try it themselves.
- Include a short 'if you smell gas' step and make sure propane, CO and smoke alarms work.
- Show where the emergency exit window is; most guests don't know RVs have one.
- Ask guests to roll in the awning when it's windy; it's the easiest thing to damage.
- Put the site number in the emergency section along with the campground address.

Questions
What should an RV rental welcome book include?
Hookups, water pump and hot water, propane appliances, tanks, the awning and slide-outs, campground info, local picks, emergency info including the exit window, and checkout.
Should guests empty the RV tanks?
For a parked rental, it's simpler and fairer for the host to handle tanks and hookups. Just ask guests to keep showers short and use RV toilet paper.
How do I explain propane safety in an RV?
Explain how to light and turn off the stove, point out the propane and CO alarms, and give a short plan if they smell gas: turn it off, get out and call you.
