Houseboat welcome book template

Staying on a houseboat is a treat, but almost nothing works like a house. Guests need to know how to step aboard safely, how the marine toilet works, how much fresh water there is and what the marina allows.

This template gives each section with sample text for a moored houseboat, covering life jackets, the holding tank, shore power and local picks like the dockside café and water taxi.

The template

Replace anything in [brackets] with your own details.

Questions

What should a houseboat welcome book include?

Where to find the boat and how to board, life jackets, the marine toilet, fresh water limits, shore power, cooking, marina info, local picks, emergency info and checkout.

How do I explain a marine toilet to guests?

Give the exact steps for your system and say that only toilet paper goes in. A small sign by the toilet helps.

Do houseboat guests need life jackets?

It's a sensible step to provide them, especially for children, and to ask guests to wear them on deck or when near the edge.
