Emergency info for guests in Ireland (rental template)
Ireland uses both 112 and 999, so guests from anywhere in Europe can dial the number they know. The gas and power emergency lines are national and free. Rural Irish addresses can share townland names, which is why the Eircode belongs on this page.
We checked these numbers in November 2026, but services change, so please confirm them locally before you print or share the page.

At the coast and on the hills
- If someone is in trouble at sea, on a cliff or on a mountain, call 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard or mountain rescue.
- Lifeguards cover some beaches in summer only. Please swim only where a lifeguard is on duty.

Tips
- Always give the Eircode; it pins the exact building, which matters when several houses share a townland name.
- Add directions from the nearest village for rural places, like 'second lane after the church'.
- Say whether your heating is gas, oil or electric, so guests know if the gas line even applies.
- List the nearest hospital with a 24-hour emergency department; many smaller hospitals don't have one.

Questions
Is the emergency number 112 or 999 in Ireland?
Both. 112 and 999 reach the same emergency services in Ireland and are free from any phone.
Who do I call if I smell gas in Ireland?
Call Gas Networks Ireland on 1800 20 50 50 from outside the building. It's free and open 24 hours.
Should I give guests my Eircode?
Yes. Emergency services can find a building from its Eircode, which helps a lot in rural areas.
