Emergency info for guests in Japan (rental template)
Japan has 110 for police and 119 for fire and ambulance, so guests used to 112 or 911 need telling. The Japan Visitor Hotline answers in English, Chinese and Korean around the clock. Earthquake steps and the nearest evacuation site belong on every Japanese rental's emergency page.
We checked these numbers in November 2026, but services change, so please confirm them locally before you print or share the page.

Earthquake and tsunami

- Near the coast, after strong shaking or a tsunami warning, go to high ground or the evacuation site straight away.
- After a strong quake the gas meter may shut itself off. Please call us before trying to reset it.
