Rural check-in instructions template, no cell signal

When the last few kilometres have no cell signal, guests can't open a link, can't load the map and can't call you from the end of the road. Rural directions have to work offline, and they have to use things guests can see out the window.

This template tells guests to save everything before they lose signal, then guides them by landmarks and distances, not just street names. It also explains how to reach you and emergency services once they're at the property, which matters more in the country than anywhere.

The template

Replace anything in [brackets] with your own details.

Questions

How do guests find a rural rental with no cell signal?

Give them directions to save before they set off, using landmarks and distances from the last town. Ask them to download an offline map and save your instructions while they still have signal.

Can guests call 911 without cell signal?

Emergency calls may still go through on another carrier's network if one reaches the area, but don't count on it. Provide a landline or wifi calling, and post your civic address near the phone.

Why do GPS directions go wrong in rural areas?

Map data can include seasonal roads, private lanes or old routes. Tell guests which roads to avoid and to follow your written directions over the app.
